I came across this while browsing for something else, and my only regret about reading it is that I didn't recognize it as the eighth in a series. I've since gone back to read the others in sequence, and commend them all wholeheartedly. I've described them to others (who raise eyebrows at some of the cover art) as "John LeCarre meets Harry Potter, but much darker and funnier." Unique. Stross is a very smart guy; a polymath, and the cultural references are hilarious (when I get them; he's a Brit). Highly recommended.
