While reading this book, I couldn't keep the phrase "the more things change, the more they stay the same" out of my head. This book details the long, hard fought road that Italian immigrants faced in the early 1900's; I kept thinking, much like the Muslim Community today. This book is ultimately forgiving of the inconsistencies American Immigrants face when they make it to our shores. But not so forgiving on the errors that killed our first Italian American Detective, Joseph Petronsino. Mr Petronsino really invented the modern American Police Detective, which means we should all know about him and his fight against the Black Hand. This non-fiction book reads like a historical mystery. If you enjoy true crime and detective stories, this book is for you.
