This book was a very well written horror novel. I am not often scared by books and was surprised at how this book scared me so easily. This book is definitely not for anyone under the age of 14. I would recommend this book to anyone who is able to handle a horror movie. I feel this book will have the same effect. This book had the perfect amount of both suspense and plot twists that compels you to keep reading. This book takes place present day in a big forest. The reader follows a girl with a group of friends while they are on a camping trip, which takes a dark turn. The dark forest setting is probably what makes the story as scary as it is. Many people share the same fear of unknown creatures in the dark woods. Many people almost never go in the woods at night. In the book you also meet many suspicious characters. It can be very hard at times to know who to trust. The title: What Waits in the Woods, I think, is a very creative and effective title. From the very beginning of the book, different characters mention seeing a flash of something through the trees or sometimes voices. As they get closer and closer to meeting this person, they find what was waiting for them in the woods. The title also has an ominous feeling that first attracts readers. Overall this book was a very good read and is the first thing I would recommend for someone looking for a scare.
