What a delightful discovery! Adichie's style of storytelling is so simply, yet deeply descriptive. I fully stood beside the characters in the Nigerian town of Enugu. We are exposed to the contrast of a wealthy, conservative, religiously fanatic, patriarchal family where our main character Kambili existed and to the home of their aunt, an intellectual and free thinking parent who takes on Kambili and Jaja, her brother, in times of difficulty. Throw in a military coup, coming of age, abuse, escape....... I will definitely read more from this author.
