the Brothers Who Built AC/DC

Title notwithstanding, "The Youngs" is more about the people and personalities behind the marketing of AC/DC than the Young brothers or the band itself. It is also more a compilation of theories, speculation, and anecdotes than definitive information--not surprising, considering the subjects' refusal to be interviewed or otherwise involved. Much of the book is devoted to argument about who deserves credit for which part of AC/DC's rise to the top. ("Who Made Who," indeed!) The photograph section merely serves to underscore this point: only 10 of the book's 28 photos include an image of even a single one of the Young brothers. Furthermore, the author's disjointed style of presentation makes the narrative difficult to follow. Those fascinated by the machinations of the record industry may find it an interesting read; however, all but the most rabid fans of the band will miss nothing by skipping this book.
