Summary

This book is a deep, gritty story of a girl torn between love and duty to her parents. When she makes the choice to do her duty, she has only a life of servitude ahead of her. She makes the best of things and her faith in God is what is sustaining her - that and not thinking of what might have been. But what will happen when Emmalyne and Tavin are suddenly living near each other? For Tavin's part, he has to work through the bitterness and hate that has overtaken him and learn to forgive those who have wronged him before he can hope to find peace. The author did a good job of this without either making it seem trite or making him into a horrid character no one could like or identify with. This is the second book in the Land of Shining Water's Series. They are stand alone stories so they don't need to be read in any particular order.
