First, three stars is "above average" in this system, so it's a positive review, not a negative one. The story held my interest the whole way and the author writes well. It did have its issues. As a retired FBI agent I can say the author didn't bother to do any research. Her portrayal of the heroine was silly. For example, FBI does not have jurisdiction over serial killers and does not have a homicide squad/division. Agents aren't martial arts experts and females can't disable large men. The copy editing was below average. The funniest blooper was when the heroine put on a pot of coffee and then "poured over" some files. Really? She poured coffee over the files? She meant pored. But I did enjoy it, which says something since I skip half the books I check out based on the first few chapters.
