From Library Staff

Solid film with a good mix of humor and tragedy. The use of Japanese stereotypes and a foreigner character to lead the resistance were a little weird.

Although this is an animated feature it's really not for little kids. In fact, it's rated PG-13 and has quite a bit of violence. I liked it, but it's very dark and would not be good for little ones.

This is a wonderful family film. I kept waiting for the Gorillaz to make a cameo ( )

I thought this movie would be bad and boring so I was relenting to watch this, gonna waste time. But the review and synopsis were good so I watched it anyway. It turned out to be not at all bad nor boring. The movie was interesting, a little bit weird in its imagination, but overall it was a good and a pleasant movie to watch.

Wes Anderson first animation, Fantastic Mr. Fox, is followed by another great animation in Isle of Dogs. Dogs in Japan are facing extinction by a dog flu which is exacerbated by human anger and hate by expulsion to a garbage island. There's plenty of political intrigue in this animated talking dog movie which I thought was pretty cool and well done.

This movie is beautiful in such a precise Wes Andersony way. It has a great cast and the dogs are all very good. The main faults are the Smurfette syndrome (there is only one female dog with a speaking part) and if you were looking for anything resembling realism you'd be disappointed. I loved it.

This was a strange and weird dvd I must say and my teenager did not understand it and thought it was a clay movie. I find the dogs very interesting and how intense they eyes were and them expressing themselves. Also the idea that living in a society were your forced to comply with a society where the people are dealing with a kingdom or a government which is controlling a situation for their own wants and tries to make people believe a certain idea is the worst such as the current situation of the USA and other countries also. I feel people must not let a dictatorship have control over people and we all need to express how wrong and it is not acceptable to be forced upon.

Absolute perfection in storytelling: I started watching and could not get enough of these characters. The animation and art design are wonderful. The music, specially the drums, are unforgettable. I truly believe it is a masterpiece that cannot be replicated.
Isle of Dogs is not for everybody, but this movie is destined to become a cult film, because of its own merits and uniqueness.
The ending is optimistic, and left me with a warm feeling of happiness.
This movie has motivated me to learn to write Haiku.
I literally cannot wait for the next Wes Anderson's movie.

Not for kids.
This is much darker than Fantastic Mr. Fox, with cussing and detailed discussion of doggie-suicide.
Dogs die, and then there's a quick moment of humor to sell it.
