Excellent "family values" suspense film.

The Blu-Ray on this is awesome. Except for some motion blurs, the TV as good if not better than watching this in the cinema. I was drawn into the story and the 2 + hours went like nothing viewing this! Looked at the movie twice so far. I'd watch it again if it wasn't such a macabre subject matter and fact that what it is portraying actually happened. The director has an skill of taking such a subject and making it so engaging to look at. True story movies are usually the most boring types of movies to view and usually I trail off after the 45 min mark. This movie gets your attention right through.

I was a teenager when this event took place, and I remember wondering "How could someone do something that horrid to a child?" Nowadays you read about this sort of cruelty all the time. Christopher Plummer well deserved his Oscar nomination as he played the role of JP Getty to perfection. Michelle Williams also very good, as was Charlie Plummer (no relation). I wonder how many people will get the bit at the end about how Getty, the richest person in history (at the time), was able to legally pay zero income tax. And how shocked those people would be to know that the exact same thing is going on right now - a pretty fair lot too.

Not being of this time period, thought having of course heard of JP Getty & his fortune, we hadn't heard of the kidnapping or anything to do with it. Nor had we heard that Kevin Spacey had been dropped from filming and replaced by Christopher Plummer, so we went into this movie wide-eyed and quite naively. For us it was RIVETING. Plummer was brilliant: simply put, we Hated him. Williams should now be on every decent director's radar (if she wasn't before) because she inhabits the character of the powerless mother with her entire being: her portrayal is flawless and she totally holds her own up against that mountain of a performer, Plummer - God the both of them are fantastic. Charlie Plummer was bloody good also and quite believable. Wahlberg does a solid job as well, though not as noteworthy as the others. Five stars and highly recommend you watch it but not with a noisy crowd as it gets intense and you may want quiet to absorb these fine performances.

Well-acted and interesting story based on the 1973 kidnapping of J. Paul Getty's grandson in Italy. Worth watching.

Fascinating account of a kidnapping that reveals the character of all the people involved. The cast is amazing, giving good performances all around. I love it when Mark Wahlberg gets a good role.

This was a good movie. It is based on true events but some details were changed. I give it four and a half stars. It would have been five if it had been entirely accurate. But it was an entertaining movie nonetheless. I highly recommend.

I hadn't heard of the controversy during production; I wish you had said it aloud instead of only referring to it: those kind of details interest me, and I'm sure others who aren't so ' in the know,' as you seem to be. the real-life case reminds me of the kidnapping of Frank Sinatra, Jr. . Why in the world would you take such a chance of a crime like that against dangerous people? And, again, an ungodly number of people are listed as being in line on the holds to see this item. Is it some sort of running joke?

Another movie based on actual events and with these it goes without saying that license will be taken in order to provide more entertainment. Having said this, "All the Money in the World," apart from being known for the last second replacement of a disgraced actor, is engaging though not one of Ridley Scott's best efforts. Christopher Plummer and Michelle Williams put in stalwart performances in a movie where much seems bleak and where money trumps all-comers as the worldly higher power.

I guess everyone is interested in this because of the "last minute substitution"thing. It's not a bad movie; it's OK; but it certainly isn't any kind of classic.
