The soundtrack, nostalgia, characters and suspense had me hooked. It was hard to stop after one episode but I was patient so I could enjoy it for several days.

This series was so disappointing! Some of that is not the fault of the series, but rather the cultural build up - 95% at rotten tomatoes is not deserved, for example. I was expecting one of the best TV shows I'd seen in a while. Instead, it was a pretty decent TV show. My biggest criticism is how slow and dull the director makes the episodes. This really felt like a miniseries (8 episodes, 3:24 total run time) that should have been stripped down to a feature length film. Way too much lingering to seemingly fill time. The characters were great. The 80s setting is nostalgic. The cold war psychic experiment gone wrong was well used here. It was spectacularly crafted, well acted taking great advantage of some real teenagers as the actors, the visuals were great. I just think this would have been much better served as a 2 hour movie and not a 8 episode miniseries.

This Netflix series explores the paranormal and its effect on a small town in Indiana (circa 1983). The friendship between the four male protagonists (preteen boys) is the best thing about the show (great chemistry there!) and the fast-paced movement of the show keeps viewers from becoming restless (especially if they are not the biggest Sci-Fi fans - like me!) This show is great for binging or marathoning and is well worth trying out.

I'm not a huge science fiction fan, but "Stranger Things" had me hooked with its nostalgic 1980s pop culture references, attention to period detail, and mystery. This show has it all: sinister government agents, a secret lab, a girl with telekinetic powers, kids on bikes taking on the world, friendship, first love, parallel dimensions, teenage angst, and an otherworldly monster stalking the residents of a small town. All the actors' performances were stellar, but Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, and Millie Bobby Brown stole the show. If you're a scifi fan, a reluctant scifi watcher like me, or you just enjoy clever T.V. shows, this gem will not disappoint.

A government-run secret project accidentally (?) opens a portal to a dimension parallel to ours – except that everything’s upside down in a way, and monsters rule this blackness. For horror fans only.

Wow! The writing, the acting, the music, the ability to binge watch the whole season on DVD (you'll totally want to) is fantastic. The story is so unique, exciting, and truly strange. Plus, the intro is perfection, Winona Ryder flexes some serious acting muscle, and the child actors are phenomenal. I love this show!

Stranger Things is a TV show made to feel like an 80s movie- an 8 hours long, scifi/horror, IT meets E.T. meets The Goonies adventure. It's best watched in one sitting- and even if you think you don't have the time, once you watch one episode it's hard to stop until the end. Everything from the dynamic characters, the creepy monsters, the worldbuilding, and the gripping story prove that Stranger Things has earned all the hype surrounding it.

A mishmash of plot elements from Steven Spielberg and Stephen King. Brief enough not to overstay its welcome.

Definitely one of the greatest television shows of our time; the loveable pre-teen characters immediately grab you, and the suspenseful thriller genre will keep you watching for hours on end. The plotline, the twists, the 80s feel, it all makes this show amazing.

If you were alive and watching movies in the 1980's and early 90s, Stranger Things will grab you by the nostalgiafeels. It draws on a large number of movies and television specials that 80's kids and teens would remember fondly. ST works as a tribute to movie or mini series from Stephen King, James Cameron, James Carpenter, and Stephen Spielberg, but it does so without being too obvious. It doesn't come across as cheap or derivative. That said, I can't decide if people who don't remember the movies and media of that era fondly would also enjoy Stranger Things. The amount of nostalgia is strong here. At its core it's a small town mystery-horror series blending fantasy and science fiction elements. I would like to think that it's a great show on its own, but it's hard to see past the nostalgia.
