It's war in the West Indies, and the shores of New Providence have never been bloodier. While Eleanor Guthrie and Woodes Rogers hold Nassau, Captain Flint sails to strike the final blow. Meanwhile, from the interior, an insurgency builds, fueled by the legend of Long John Silver. But the closer civilization comes to defeat, the more desperately, and destructively, it will fight back.

Great show!
Not a single bad episode in the entire 4 season run.

A surprising but satisfying end to this violent and gritty series. Lots of blood, violence and Machiavellian machinations as the war for supremacy in the West Indies culminates in the most destructive battle in the show's history. Overall, this was an interesting prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island...and fleshes out the backstory for Long John Silver (and sadly, explains how poor Billy Bones became a sour drunk). Take some time and watch the special feature interviews.

Rated 9/10. Good finale season to this series.

Strong performances by the main characters.

Good story, with a great ending!

Rarely enjoyed a mini-series as much as this one. Just finished Season four, which, at this writing, is the final season--not because it was cancelled, but simply because the story was complete. THE END. I like that...although, as other viewers may feel, wish that it "never ended."

Great conclusion. Long John's dialogue here is a little...hmm, over-written, I think, but it's an ingenious twist on motivation. Clever 21st-century thinking went into this...and, given time and circumstance, it's "could be" to a plausible ending.

Great action sword-play sequence in the "crows nest" between Flint and Billy Bones! I've seen a lot of "pirate" movies...but this is a (satisfying) first!

This series gets better with each season. Sadly, the fourth is the final season. Great stuff all around and ripping entertainment. These pirate tales are not your usual idiotic fare. These guys (and a few pirate women) are portrayed much closer to the ways and means of real pirates and it is quite compelling drama. I'm glad they chose to wind up the series on a high note rather than leave it all hanging. That said, I'm not happy with all their choices but I accept them. There is talk of a spin-off series. There are opportunities to follow up on any of several characters not the least of which is Long John Silver. After all, Black Sails is a prequel to Treasure Island so that would be my first choice for a follow-up series or mini-series.
