A typical coming of age film where the young man, Ellis is all too bothered/confused/shaped by his super first world problems. The film is shaped by stock characters like the unconventional, trust fund mother juxtaposed with the absent father who is a responsible and smart man living in suburbia. To keep it interesting, add the hippie botanist goat man as the closest thing to a male role model for Ellis and you've pretty much covered the film. Although it has the ingredients for an art film, the New Age spirituality mixed with rich people who smoke and experiment all day falls flat. Perhaps the novel is better?
This has to be among the worst movies ever made, I had to quit after 30 minutes, and even then I wanted my time back.
Very Entertaining, loved it. David Duchovny was especially good. I could not believe someone without a beard could look so much different.
One of those rite-of-passage or coming of age films, a fairly well done one. I enjoyed it a bunch. But I've always been something of a goat-man.
Could use more screaming goats. I, for one, was disappointed. YouTube is far better.
Skip It – Goats (2012) 94 min. Graham Phillips, the young actor that plays Ellis, will make it big one day in Hollywood. Unfortunately, Goats will not be that film that propels him to stardom. Marketed as a comedy, the film misses the mark and not too exciting either as a drama. Wasted 94 minutes.
