Very good movie about a school teacher and her ethical problem solving skills in her professional and personal life. The acting of Margita Gosheva as Nade, the teacher is subtle but powerful.
Nade has a kind, but financially irresponsible and unproductive, older husband and a kind, but financially irresponsible and unproductive employer. She is so angry at her father for the way he treated her mother that she is unwilling to take his money when she is in desperate need. So Nade gets caught in a financial crisis that she did not create, and is challenged to figure out what to do when all options seem terribly wrong. In the mean time, she shows up to teach her English class, and shows up to cook, wash dishes, and care for the daughter and husband who depend on her.
Excellent acting and dialogue. Hauntingly grim. Nade's intelligence, dignity, extreme hard work, and physical beauty don't seem enough to provide her a decent living in the face of the reality surrounding her. The movie is like a puzzle: what would you have done?
Low budgeted Bulgarian movie is slow paced, filled with human desperation, degradation and moral dilemma. It shows how hard it is to preserve any moral values in corrupted society....🤔
This is a very bleak parable indeed from Bulgaria which challenges "practise what you preach" to the extreme. Recommended.
The protagonist of this film, a grade school teacher, has a bad week -a very, very bad week. We see Murphy’s Law in action. Murphy’s Law states that if things can go wrong, they will go wrong. While you watch the film, ask yourself, if you were in the teacher’s shoes, when would you have completely lost your cool? This is a Bulgarian film. Even if I had some of my fingers amputated, I could still count the number of Bulgarian films that I have seen on that messed up hand.
I really felt bad for the main character, with money problems and everything going wrong at the worst possible time, but she should have swallowed her pride, apologized and accepted help.
