American manufacturing employment has been on the decline for decades, unleashing a devastating effect on our local and national economies. But it's the stories of communities and the families that comprise them that reveal the harshest costs upon the nation. American Made Movie is a documentary film examining the factors contributing to the decline of the American manufacturing workforce and the integral role consumerism may play in getting the economy back on track. The movie looks back on the glory days of U.S. manufacturing when there was a more balanced relationship between the goods produced and the goods consumed. Whether you are an entrepreneur, student, stay-at-home mom or a senior citizen, you have the power to transform America's future and be a part of the solution through thinking before buying and through the simple choices you make every day.

Anybody who thinks manufacturing is going to return, while this country is still engaged in bogus free trade agreements, is a halfwit. This film makes that ridiculous assertion, and isn't worth seeing. They would have you believe that pandering to corporations will make them come back, when in reality we can simply make it impossible for overseas corporations to access our US market. If it isn't made here, it can't be sold here without paying high tariffs. Companies who refused to manufacture here would forfeit their intellectual property protections, and other US based companies would be free to use them. Pandering to companies is like pleading with a bully not to beat you, when a better solution would have been to break their arm with a baseball bat. Withdraw from all free trade agreements, re-institute a stiff tariff system, and legislate the nuts off of these corporations if you ever want to see manufacturing return to this country. Don't ever beg for what is rightfully yours. Just take it. Protectionism is your friend. Protectionists are patriots who value a strong US society, complete with high wages, and full legal protections for labor and the environment. Free-traders are traitors to America, and don't value any of the aforementioned.
