it feels like a woody allen knock-off without some of the more witty lines.

I agree with SAMMY222 that I usually wouldn't take the time to comment on a movie like this, but it was just so bad after seeming so promising. Don't let the preview with all its good actors and artsy shots fool you. All of the comedy is trying too hard, the two main guys (two of my favorite actors, usually) are horrible, the girl is way too good for both of them, and actually, way too good to be true. Also, a waste of Jenny Slate. (See her in Obvious Child instead) There is no truth in this movie, just a director thinking he's the cleverest man in the room while the rest of us just wish he'd talk to someone else for awhile.

Usually I do not comment on movies here and I've seen many! But this one in my opinion is bad. I could not even finish it. Not worth watching.

This movie has receive terrible reviews on movie rating sites, but the presence of Jason Bateman makes any movie required viewing for me. I give it a decent rating because I actually liked it. I think it is a good effort by a first-time director and while people are sure to make comparisons to Wes Anderson or maybe Whit Stillman (Barcelona, Last Days of Disco), I don't think this is a case of copycat film making, but a young director finding his style.
