"Broken English" links to the feeling of an Eric Rohmer film. In fact, Melville Poupard starred for Rohmer. And, the plot is similar to the ending of Rohmer film: after yearning to find her lost Parisian lover, Ms Posey's character heads back to the airport and guess who enters the train!
Even though she drinks constantly and screws too easily, its hard to imagine Parker Posey unable to find a man. Not one of her best. (But I still love watching her.)
To be honest, I may be biased because I'm a fan of Parker Posey. Hopefully this is balanced by the fact that I'm unfamiliar with the remainder of the cast. My keywords for this movie would include sappy, chick-flick, romantic, good music, foreign, unpredictably predictable. Those happen to be some of my favorite words. Loved it.
Usually I hate movies like this, the formula is so cliche, so predictable and the actors are so... annoyingly pretty and make the most OBVIOUS mistakes required to keep the plot going, but THIS movie is GREAT! The actors are great; convincing and real and cute but not toooo cute. I loved it.
