VERY GOOD 2014 set of a dozen classic songs interpreted by talented Scottish lady singer.
I particularly enjoyed her version of 'Summertime'.
A fantastic album that gives new life to classic songs. Loved it.
Beautiful mid-century standards, done in a smoky-nightclub style that is a wonderful showcase for La Lennox's outstanding voice.
Annie Lennox has amazing vocal cords and uses it well on this album.
I was expecting some kind of respect in handling the standards but it seems her voice is too harsh and even if that's the very nature of her vocal chords, it doesn't have any kind of innovation to make it noteworthy. I guess her foray into this musical genre wasn't ideal and most likely her last unless her fans want more but what a terrible mistake since the standards are sung by quite a number of old pros and upcoming ones who could give justice to them better.
A splendid selection of standards by Annie Lennox. Her voice suits the songs very well indeed.
I haven't listened to Lennox since Sweet Dreams. this collection is a great surprise. my faves - God bless the child and Mood indigo.
holy cow! i always knew annie had the chops to pull this kind of music off. this is a must listen to
After seeing Lennox knock it out at the Grammys I had to catch up on some of her CDs. This is an album of old standards and Lennox's voice is brilliant. Don't miss "I put a spell on you" (made popular from 50 Shades of grey sndtrk), "Georgia on my mind," and "You belong to me." Moody and mello!
