Hazel and Gus share a sarcastic sense of humor, a distaste for the conventional, and ultimately a love that sweeps them on an unforgettable journey. Although the two teens face unlikely challenges, their courage and dedication to each other prove that while life isn't perfect, love can still be extraordinary in this powerfully moving film based on John Green's New York Times best-selling novel.

So let me just start by saying that I am a HUGE John Green fan. I have read and loved all of his books, especially the Fault in Our Stars, which, despite the fact that I seriously rarely cry while reading a book, I cried for. So I finally screwed up the courage to watch the movie and overall . . . it wasn't bad. The actors were all well cast and they stuck to the story nicely and I let out a sob twice during the movie. And I am notorious for having problems with book to movie adaptations and technically speaking there weren't any.
The reason I think I came away not blown away is because John Green is such an amazing writer and I don't really think the beauty of the Fault in Our Stars can be translated into film. The unique comparisons and famous lines came off as almost silly at times, despite the gravity of the subject, which they definitely don't in the book. So curse you John Green and your magic touch with words!

I love how they both meet in a support group and end up together like a true romance novel but then there is a twist. He has recurring cancer and is slowly dying but wants to spend every last minute with her. It is truly amazing.

Dragged and rushed the ending at the same time. She does a great job at selling the role and he doesn't overdo it like he does in other movies. Worth watching.

"I am in love with you, and I am not in the business of denying the simple pleasure of saying these things. I'm in love with you and I know that love is just a shout in the void, and that the oblivion is inevitable, and that were're are doomed, and that a day will come when all our labor will be turned to dust, and I know the sun will also swallow the only Earth we will ever have, and I am in love with you."
