A comedy about a disgruntled employee holding his former co-workers hostage may not SOUND funny on the face of it, but bear with me here. Snappy dialogue and, naturally, dark humor, make this media satire a laugh fest.

Alan Partridge, played by Steve Coogan, is a middle-aged local celebrity who dreams of stardom, and is craven enough to see his chance to become 'the face of this standoff' when his fired co-worker, played by Colm Meany, returns with a shotgun.

Meany plays a good man who has snapped, but for our purposes, he's the straight man to Coogan's vain bumbler who finds himself between the police and the (Irish, Alan would point out) madman. Antics ensue as Alan daydreams about escaping, becomes a media darling, and loses his pants and possibly his soul.

I enjoyed this film, its wit and intelligence. The pretty basic message-- there are things more important than money-- is pretty obvious, but Coogan keeps you guessing if Alan is even capable of learning this.

Not as good as the show but still funny. Love watching Alan dig himself out of his own holes. Fun

Hilarious film!

Steve Coogan is great as the egomanical disc jokey Alan Partridge.

Hapless Alan Partridge does his best to survive a hostage situation in a plot very reminiscent of forgotten 90s comedy Airheads...though set in Norfolk, and, fortunately, much funnier. My wife and I really enjoyed the cringeworthy word-play during the showdown scene. Enjoyable, goofy fun.

One of the funniest movies I've seen all year.

I enjoy Steve Coogan's quick witted comedy as well as his serious acting roles. He's a very talented man.

Pat Farrell: I came to this pier once with Molly...
Alan Partridge: Happy times!
Pat Farrell: ...I came to scatter her ashes.
Alan Partridge: Maybe not so happy.
