Although the Upper East Siders have graduated high school, Gossip Girl is still intent on ruining their lives in college. One of the reasons I believe that season one and two of Gossip Girl was such a success was because it was set in high school, so it had a care-free attitude to it. One of the main problems in this season was that the plot was all over the place. The audience witnesses Jenny’s struggles in high school, Blair attempts to reign over NYU and Serena’s decision to take a gap-year to discover what direction her life is heading. With so many things going on, the characters could not develop their relationships with one another further. I loved Rufus’ maternal instincts, the banter between Blair and Dan and Serena’s newfound friendship with Dan in season one and two. However, since the characters are no longer in high-school, the aspects of Gossip Girl that made it captivating were no longer present.
