After years of watching his children and grandchildren wander from their faith, Iddo's prayers are answered: King Cyrus is allowing God's chosen people to return to Jerusalem. Jubilant, he prepares for their departure only to learn that his family, grown comfortable in the pagan culture of Babylon, wants to remain. Zechariah, Iddo's oldest grandson, torn between his grandfather's beliefs and his father's life in Babylon, soon begins to hear the voice of God.

I loved this book. I do recommend reading this book after the Chronicles of the Kings five part series in order to go in order historically and biblically.
I loved the progression that Iddo, Dinah, Zechariah and Yael went through. How at first some of them did not want to make the journey back to Jerusalem but ultimately learned to believe and trust God.
Reading about how God really tested His people's faith in order to make them realize how much we need God’s presence with us everyday was so beautiful to read.
I also loved how the relationship between Zechariah and Yael developed despite their many issues early on.
I really loved reading about how Zechariah started to be used by God as one of His prophets and how they were finally able to rebuild His temple.
