Unique story about an interesting boy with musical and artistic talents that a couple recognized and nurtured. About the difference one couple can make as foster parents. William Allen White award winner. Very deep.

What a sweet, beautiful story. Also mysterious, sad, timeless, and yes, heartwarming, but don't let that stop you, it's not maudlin. It has the feeling of a fable or Bible story, that the story is just a simple way of telling the real story (but I'm too lazy to speculate, I'd rather just enjoy it). I found this on the kiddie shelf, but I recommend it to anyone, except kids who probably wouldn't like it because there's no vampires or wizards or whatever kids are into these days.

Interesting story. Simple but yet complex and keeps you wanting to keep reading to find out " who the boy is and WHY " Read the book and you will understand what is meant by that ! Recommend this story , it's very engaging and heartwarming.

Mysterious boy and the circumstances of his appearance changes the lives of John and Marta - a simple story that would make a good holiday family read.
