Conjured was such an amazing book! I enjoyed every second of reading it. It was quite confusing at first and I had a lot of questions on the book that I didn't understand, but as I kept on reading further the questions that I had were all answered. I loved this book and I hope this book can be made into a movie, because that's what this book truly deserves! I must say this author is wonderful and a very good writer. This author is full of imagination to be able to write a book like this! By the way the ship has sailed for Zach and Eve! The name I've came up with for the two of them is: Zaeve! (lol)
I definitely would recommend this book for teens that are looking for some romance, mystery, magic and a ton of imagination! :))))))))
Blind Date 2017 comment: "Book was just okay!!"
The first few chapters are a bit slow in the climax, but once you get towards the end you see that all the visions and everything make sense. It's this gritty kind of rehab with magic powers and mystery and flashbacks. But seeing the main villain harness energy from other people, the point of that confuses me.
This book has no rhyme or reason.
Most of it is completely shrouded in mystery and a heroine with memory-loss that faints every time she casts magic (I mean, really) and the development in the last few chapters does absolutely nothing to the elevate the story or endear the characters to me.
It's just all around bizarre.
"Conjured" by Sarah Beth Durst is probably one the most chilling and surprising stories that I have ever read. And honestly, it took my version of creepy and magical to a whole new level, but sadly, only when things started to really unravel near the end of the story.
At the beginning of "Conjured", everything was moving a decent pace, but nothing gripping was happening. I understand that the story had to unfold in order for things to get suspenseful, but once I was already in the middle of story, everything just seemed like it was at the start of the book. I kept reading though and when I reached the end, I swear my brain exploded. Everything that the characters, I thought, just didn't matter anymore. The whole plot was blown so out of proportion that I couldn't wait to see what happened right before everything so crazily ended.
For a while around the end, I was so sucked into the book, that I thought that I was IN the main character's shoes. Once I snapped out of it though, I was so scared for the heroine that I thought was going to die. "Conjured" is a stand alone book though, so I expected there to be at least somewhat of a happy ending. (And thank God there was).
So general summary of my review: the beginning of the book and middle of the book was basically dead, but there was such a dramatic turn of events near the end, that I was left stunned.
Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
It's a pretty good book. Really good storyline and character development. My only issue was how Zach was able to handle Eve's magic so quickly after the first kiss. It was kind of a weird jump for me and i wished that they had found a way to reverse the black outs whenever Eve does magic
This is one of the best books i've ever read! It left me wanting more.
Durst's books tend to be hit or miss for me. Here's hoping this is a hit.
