I was exhausted translating the writer's using Yooper speech for a main character. Also, while I realize that some men do speak of women in obscene and vulgar terms, I wish the author had cut back on that. I felt slapped every time I read words like "split-tail."

Even so, the windigo/dire wolf/murder plot kept me reading until the end.
