There is something very "grounding" about this album. Beringer's deep resounding vocals are so calming in a way that almost feels nonchalant, but they tie in perfectly with the music. If you're not in the mood for a happy up-beat album, but aren't in the mood for sad sappy album either, Trouble Will Find Me is a great middle ground. This album is all about balance. The lyrics convey vulnerability and authenticity, while the vocals are confidently lackadaisical.
I know this is their most critically acclaimed album... but personally it lacks the bounce and fire of their previous recordings.
While it doesn't always carry the same powerful emotional punch that previous National albums have had, "Trouble" is still a well-crafted, beautifully atmospheric album that's worth a listen.
Another great album from a great band- The National has outdone themselves yet again!
