Oh my goodness, this was SUCH a great read! I have so much respect for Susan Fletcher! The way she weaves the intricate threads of a complex story together, how her writing style evokes emotions and showcases the interesting qualities of 15th century Venice, how each of her characters plays their role and has their own key in the story. I loved it a lot. It was gorgeous, perfect, amazing, unique. I cannot say enough. The book is superb, absolutely superb. I LOVED Renzo. He's such a solid character, a boy who is forced into becoming a man and must choose his own way in life. His plight was believable, and his determination and good heart admirable. The adventure and magic and action-filled scenes were done well. And the bird children (and the older woman) were interesting. I regret that we didn't get to see more of them, and that there is no sequel to this book. I NEED A SEQUEL...O.O...
A fantastic read. I loved it.
