Another example of truth being stranger than fiction. In the 1700's a well-off man, with more than a few odd personality quirks, decided to fashion for himself the perfect wife. To accomplish this he needed to find someone who hadn't yet been spoiled by society. So he undertook to raise two orphan girls and raise them up according to his spartan standards, with the idea he'd marry the best of the two. Needless to say, things didn't turn out quite as he expected. This author is funny, intriguing, and always researches her subjects very carefully. Highly recommend all her works.
