This film is pretty sad and a tad bit slow but overall was good. I really enjoyed the cast and scenery! It was interesting to see how friendships evolve and how French culture handles difficult situations.

I was happy with this movie because it made me laugh and the characters were interesting. There also was a meaningful take on a friendship being strained by sexual attraction of the same sex. I was a bit thrown from the dark beginning and ending but I realize that french culture is different than american.

The movie's depth revealed itself after awhile but important lessons include: What kind of friend are you? & choose your words carefully. I thought the acting was exceptional.

Reminded me of the Big Chill with subtitles. But don't let the subtitles stop you from watching. Very enjoyable film. Over 2 hours long.

Four stars

this was SO BAD! the closest comparison I have is a really long boring episode of Friends. a lot of characters with no connections or purpose. the emotional high point of the movie is towards the end when Jean-Louis speaks his mind. skip it!

Many similarities to The Big Chill.

Wonderful French movie! Good Characterization and lots of twists and turns
Bohemian flair
Intriguing and well done acting for the most part, especially the minor character(older gentleman)
Great soundtrack

Normally I like character driven French movies, but this one wasn't worth the over two and a half hours of my time. The production values, acting, directing, etc. were OK, but the main characters (mostly males) are shallow jerks. Not jerks with interesting problems to overcome, just jerks. The female characters put up with these guys and even encourage them a bit. All in all, I felt like cheering when a minor male character (not a jerk) told them off as a group. Don't waste your time on these guys. However, I see there is another review and it views this film as worthwhile. Read it to get another perspective.

The French Big Chill and Guillaume Canet is the new Lawrence Kasdan! A beautful film that explores the fleeting sense of modern friendship, the hard reality of carnality and materialism...and what's the proliferation of American songs? Is French cinema finally discovering the gem in the New World!
