Love this series and how it takes me back to key west

I read the third book in this series first. It was good to read this first book in the series as I now know/have the background that figured in book three. I like Hayley and perhaps identify with her a bit. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. Will definitely keep reading this author.

A lovely vacation or weekend read, and it looks like a great start on a new series (more already completed and coming out soon). I like literary fiction, but often I just want to read something that's a total escape and that will be relaxing and pleasant. An Appetite for Murder fits the bill. The setting of Key West--lots of locations any traveler will recognize--and the many delicious descriptions of flavors, textures and heaping dishes of food made this a winner, although I ended up staying up most of the night to finish it, so clearly the characters and plot were gripping enough for me to not want to put it down. The protagonist Hayley Snow grew on me. She sort of reminds me of Daisy Miller--flirty, naive, genuine and reckless, but happily she doesn't die at the end (Not a spoiler...who kills off their protagonist in the first of a series?). I can't wait to share it with my friends who vacation in Key West every year to hear their thoughts. There were some minor details that were a bit a amiss so if you're really bothered by little imperfections, you might want to find a different beach read, but if you're looking for little book to tuck away on your next trip to the keys and you're just going to relax and enjoy yourself, I recommend it.
