Selfish parents, 10 yrs later girls still wounded and dealing from consequences of the past. Not as enjoyable as the Fools Gold books.

I'm glad I discovered Susan Mallery's books. She develops strong characters and an endearing story. It was hard to put it down. I loved it.

This a a fun summer read. Some romance, serious issue of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and modern family blending. Best line "You're not my first rodeo." Lol.

I am a big fan of Susan Mallery’s “Fools Gold” series, but hadn’t read anything else by her. I loved her characters in those books so much; I was hesitant to venture into other territory. I found Barefoot Season a very pleasant surprise. This book delved much more into character development and provided more substance than your traditional romance. I found Carly and Michelle totally believable, and I loved sharing their journey. I was so anxious to see where these characters wound up at the end that I managed to finish the book quickly. And while romance wasn’t the main aspect of the book, it included enough to make for a happy ending. My only complaint is that I would have liked a little more insight into the male characters’ thoughts, though with the focus on the women, it made sense to underplay them.

Loved the story!! Great characters and time appropriate for our returning vets and some of the emotional issues they face after returning to their homes after war. Time well spent with this bookl

Good read about two friends who had a falling out during senior year of HS. Lived on an island off coast of Washington state. One left for army for ten years. Other one ran inn. How they overcame their differences and healed each other.

I am ready to visit Blackberry Island. The Inn sounds lovey and the food delicious. Great story.
