Meet Michael Ruppert, a different kind of American. A former Los Angeles police officer turned independent reporter, he predicted the current financial crisis in his self-published newsletter, From the Wilderness, at a time when most Wall Street and Washington analysts were still in denial. Director Chris Smith has shown an affinity for outsiders in films like American Movie and The Yes Men.

Originally produced as a motion picture in 2009, this is a 80-minute documentary about the pessmistic view of the world collaption.
Michael Ruppert warning of a new meltdown as wll as an unorecedented global disaster.
Although I certainly uncerstand his concern, I don't really believe in what he's saying.
If he was a decent person, he souldn't have smoked so many cigarettes.
In other words he is creating his own disaster, I suppose.

Well worth listening to. Offers the viewer several individual/community level ideas of what to do at the 55 minute point in the interview.

Enjoy this film as a fun-filled follow-up to a viewing of "Margin Call". (Although its actually a predictive 'prequill' !!)

Most of this you already know, like the CIA being involved in crime, peak oil, etc. It is good to remind yourself once in a while by watching this.

Canada gets most of it's electricity from Hydro power which is renewable, keep that in mind. However, baby boomer politicians are milking these resources to the breaking point without the foresight of their parent's generation.

The DVD ends by saying the man is behind on his rent. What's the point in knowing what is going to happen to the economy if you can't short the market and make enough money to pay the rent?

This is a pivotal film that is as important as Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. For a talking head piece, it is surprisingly interesting. The companion Web site is www.collapsenet.com and the companion book is Confronting Collapse: The Crisis of Energy and Money in a Post Peak Oil World, co-authored with expert Colin Campbell. There are CollapseNet members in Hamilton and surrounding areas. Worth a look if you are interested in gardening, survivalism, or emergency preparedness.

The guy has weird theories. Gave up after ten minutes.

He's a bit nuts but that's pretty much what half of this movie is about. The collapse is not only about the industrial nations collapsing but also Michael Ruppert's mental condition.

Don't take everything he says too seriously. He's just a little bit 'doom and gloom'.
