One evening, Harolds decides to go for a walk in the moonlight, but there isn't any moon, so he draws a moon with his big purple crayon. As he walks, he draws his own story until he feels tried and draws his bed and drops off to sleep.

A great story that takes you straight to bed
A must-read! An enthralling tale of a young boy and his purple crayon going on adventures in a blank canvas universe :)

Lovely story about the world created by a young boy with his purple crayon. It feels a little longer than it should be, but is otherwise a fun read. My two year old demanded a reread as soon as we finished. (He has quite a long attention span for books given his age. I wouldn't choose this book for a child with a short attention span.)
If you haven’t read this classic yet, do it! A testament to the power of imagination and the enjoyment of both a good adventure, and the end of an adventure when you get home to your own bed. The book also includes pie, which is always a plus for me.

A classic! A favorite of mine growing up and a favorite now. It sparks the imagination!
I had forgotten how much I loved Harold as a child. This is one of those perfect picture books that lends itself to art projects, imaginative play, and vocabulary-building talk with preschoolers. Highly recommended.
