I find myself hard pressed to give the movie a 4/5, hence a 3.5 rating. Let me first say that it's animated, in the style of the "Archer" cartoons. If that's your animation style, you'll absolutely love it. If, on the other hand, you're like me and was expecting real life action, you'll be disappointed.

It's so disappointing to see animated versions of real people. They also made shape-shifting characters that look cheesy and very poorly drawn. I can see why this film was a disappoint despite the all-star cast.

The plot is pretty good, but some of the characters are super annoying. Their lines are ridiculous and some of it was boring. The movie also felt quite long, which is OK, but not desirable. I was hoping to get to a point.

Overall, I think the animation style absolutely turned me off. I think had it been a live version, we'd all be talking differently about it. How do you mess up a Phillip K. Dick novel? Well, I think this may be the answer.

This is a great movie, but I didn't enjoy it. It's worth a watch for sure, but tread with caution if you don't want to have your heart ripped out.

Visually very interesting, and a thought-provoking portrait of abnormality and insanity. Not exactly fun or entertaining; frequently fails to entirely make sense, and is generally somewhat unsatisfying, both likely intentional efforts to better represent its disturbing subject matter. Not one of Downey Junior's better performances, and Keanu plays the kind of hollow cipher that he's best at, while Woody Harrelson's character is just a lunatic.

Visually cool & a great cast but a very complicated story & hard to follow at times.

Although I find this type of filming nauseating I watched it to the end, which I thought was very clever.

This movie is based on the science fiction book of the same name, written by PK Dick. It's a movie about the loss of self due to drugs, and is excellently rendered utilising rotoscoping.

I can't recommend the movie, or the book, enough. I won't damn with faint praise.

Reading other reviews, it appears they're unaware of the basis of the movie and the fact the drugs and slipstream effect are not merely affect, but faithful to the source material.

look at the cast. look at the director. look at the writer. how could a hollywood movie possibly live up to those credentials?

mexicanadiense said it best below: "A hipsters-in-Hollywood vanity project". LOL -- perfect. In the same token, I differ from their opinion of the shape-shifting-costumed cartoons; I found them irritating.
