The Shining 2.0. An adaptation of an adaptation, by the one and only Stephen King.

Danny has been hiding his shine for decades. That is, until Abra starts to write notes on his wall from her room many miles away. Abra also has the shine.

Rose, along with her crew, lure children who shine, to eat them alive, inhaling their spirit to nourish their dead bodies. In addition to luring children, the crew hunts for children, informing Rose where they are. They have been doing this for decades.

Fewer and fewer children are shining now; technology is probably to blame. But when they encounter Abra, the hunt begins.

Doctor Sleep - Horror. I really liked this movie a lot. I agree with the other ratings. Good stand-alone movie. If you know about original SHINING, this has more depth. Scary enough to be very entertaining, but not too freaky to cause disturbing thoughts. I think Ewan McGregor is a superb actor and definitely delivers in this film.

Professionally done but pointless sequel to both King and Kubrick's 'The Shining'. Demystifies the original in a manner similar to another needless Part 2: '2010 The Year We Make Contact'. My hat's off to the director who probably had many IP lawyers to satisfy with this one. The story, which starts as a legit exploration of PTSD, goes goofball with the introduction of a villainous gang of psychic vampires. It's still kind of fun in a dumb way though. Nice to see the old, somehow easier to reach, Overlook still standing and perfectly preserved from 1980 - even the coffee vending machine! Sheesh, two guys (or one in this timeline) die on the property and they board the place up! Ullman really WAS a crappy manager. He even lost his office at the Overlook to a doctor in another state (don't ask). Some nice Kubrick-like moments in it but I'd lower your expectations for a totally coherent movie. May the Shine be with you.

I loved this story. For an adaptation, it did the job. To tell the whole story would have taken a miniseries. As a fan for over 40 years, I give this a two thumbs up.

Really enjoyed this movie, probably because it is more horror-lite with few very scary moments, and gives a satisfying sequel to The Shining (a far scarier movie). Haven’t read the book yet so can’t compare it to that.

Not bad. Differs quite a bit from the book if that is important to King readers.

A very weak and unimaginative sequel.

I enjoyed SKing's early books, Shining among them. This worked well as a follow-up story. Some of the pacing seemed slow until I realized that this was part of the ambiance of the film. The young talent was that -- a talent and should go far in the industry.

I guess after reading the book, like with so many movies it couldn't tell the entire story and there was a lot missing. This movie also had to be a follow up to an American classic. I guess you could say it had a double whammy before it even was made.

It is a soft, slow pacing horror movie, a disperse suspense. Interesting connection with "The Shining" movie. Very diverse cast. Simple custom design and just fine for the time and kind of film.
