I didn't think this was as good as the first book, The Line Between. In that story, I didn't know what was coming. This seemed to have a "made-for-tv" feel about it with non-stop rushing about (action) but nothing that really surprised me. However, still an enjoyable read.

These two as well as 61 others are locked in an underground bunker to keep them safe from a deadly virus. The rigors over so many people in a tight place brings out the ugly side, especially when their contact from above's transmission gets suddenly cut off and not restarted.

This story takes us through their time in the bunker and what happens after they emerge, trying to figure out what happened and why the vaccine Wynter and Chase acquired and delivered hasn't been widely distributed.

As I said in the first book, I'm not a huge fan of Apocalypse type stories but if Tosca Lee is writing it, I'm reading it. While this story didn't go in the direction I thought it would, and included a lot of cliché type characters it was also rich in feeling. Wynter is a compelling character that cares deeply and is at times at crossroads with herself. As Wynter and Chase race to find medicine to save Julie, they meet characters that make you see the beauty in the world as well as the darkness and those doing the best they can with an ugly situation. My heart rose and fell during this story but I'm glad I took the journey.

I voluntarily received this book for an honest review, #NetGalley. More of my reviews can be found at https://wyldheartreads.wordpress.com/
