I would think that this movie would appeal more to the older generation. There are a lot of things going on in the relationships of all the characters. There is mental health problems and issues between generations and cultural…

2 DVDs for 4 segments that cover 25 years. Olive learns her lessons late in life and leaves a trail of collateral damage.

you really get an idea of how impossible she must have been when mcdormand plays her - otherwise it's hard to imagine why her son is so distant and hurt. it's stellar. and true.

I am a great fan of Elizabeth Strout's writing. Olive Kitteridge was my first novel of hers to read, so it's been a few years. Some of Strout's characters recur in later novels. From my recollection of the book, the film follows the…

Since this 4-episode film is made based on Elizabeth Strout's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, I viewed the two episodes, but the story appears so boring and slow-paced that I quit. The protagonist turns into an elephant at a time. The…

This is so good. Richard Jenkins and Frances McDormand are outstanding. At times it's as if one is watching real people instead of actors. I do feel sorry for Olive's family, though. She is relentlessly sharp and almost always says the…

In order to dramatize something, creators might work with extremes. The yin and yang here is the prickly wife and the kindly demonstrably affectionate husband, These could be the patron saints of those in the baby boomer generation who…

I couldn't plow through Olive's bad attitude and sharp manner in the first episode.

Excellent. Wow. But. An awful lot of heavy issues. Extremely well told, though. Frances McDormand is marvelous. I am going to order the book.

I've said this before in other reviews; Frances McDormand is really God. That is all you need to know. Oh yeah I almost forgot, this mini series is good, because the acting is excellent.

It's "OK", but not great. It does drag.

I must not have the gene that appreciates a thoroughly depressing series peopled by unattractive folks trudging through the throes of agony as they march toward the end of their life. I thought this was a crappy show.

Far superior to the often sentimental drivel and Hollywood manipulation of agendas and emotions. The characters and narratives are very real and I was left with a sense of hope and possibility.

If movie-watching equals escapism to you, you're not going to like this. A superb script, first-class acting, in no way predictable, it's a welcome change from the mindless dross that most movie-makers put in front of us. Sure it's…

If you enjoy reading, I highly recommend reading the adult fiction book of the same title before watching this excellent miniseries. The book would have been very difficult to adapt, and Jane Anderson did a wonderful job. The performances…

Well done, showing you the spring, summer, fall and winter in a life time. Only that because of the age of leading actors, the spring one (Episode 1) is not that real.
