Intriguing character study about focusing on oneself and the implications it has around the character. There could have been some editing to focus on plot points but the film overall works. Not a great film but makes one think. Recommended. However the film is void of any rationale for the actions; it’s up to you as viewer to fill in the blanks.Intriguing character study about focusing on oneself and the implications it has around the character. I went in hoping to appreciate the almost 3 hour film but found myself piecing together a plot that was meandering and practically non-existent. Long, dull; little to enjoy. Not recommended.

Beautiful movie. One of the pleasures of watching movies is their uncanny ability to pull at one's heartstrings and A Dog's Journey does exactly that. By the end of the film, I just felt so dog-gone wonderful. Dennis Quaid reprises his role though in a minor roll. The spotlight is on his granddaughter with the help of her dog. Highly Recommended.Beautiful movie. One of the pleasures of watching movies is their uncanny ability to pull at one's heartstrings and A Dog's Journey does exactly that. Absolutely beautifully remastered silent picture in the Criterion Collection looks amazing even in today's standards. The film itself is quite funny. The Kid Brother (1927) is my personal favorite of Harold Lloyd's pictures. Look for Jocko the Monkey in the third act - he steals the show. Remember that silent films required actors to communicate mainly through facial expression; there's a particular scene that Lloyd climbs a tree to speak to his love interest that warms the heart (you'll know what I mean). If you've never watched a silent film, start with this one followed by Lloyd's Speedy (1928) and Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times (1936), The Circus (1928), ) and The Kid (1921). Alas, only Modern Times and The Kid is available through OPL's downloadable service Kanopy.Absolutely beautifully remastered silent picture in the Criterion Collection looks amazing even in today's standards. Panique is a 1946 French classic of the film noir genre. It's about "fake news" and how the public is manipulated into falling into the trap of two not so good people. Notice the intricacies of how easy manipulation occurs if one's not fond of another. Great social commentary of a film and worth a viewing. Victimized couple to a new home needs to deal with the emotional attachment of its previous owner. Well crafted thriller but subtle on the probability factor. Hey, it's a fun popcorn movie with lots of moments to allow the viewer to ask "what would I have done here...". Not a fan of the ending but engaging throughout. Dennis Quaid in his "senior" years (he's 65; which is the new 40 I'm told) does make a good villain.Victimized couple to a new home needs to deal with the emotional attachment of its previous owner. This is associated with the Conjuring series of films. It takes a real "legend" and gives it the Hollywood touch. The story and plot moves along well. However, if one's looking for a horror film to scare the dickens out of you and leave you with nightmares for days to come, this is not the film for you. If only the producers could find some big names in Hollywood to play the parts; it would have been a better film. Then again, class A actors would no doubt be ostracized from the Hollywood scene (that's too bad that an actor can't play these roles because it's political overtones). The film hits on all the arguments against abortion in general; however, it doesn't know when to stop. If it only fleshed out a little more the emotional epiphany of Amy Johnson, it could have hit home a little more. Though I know the film was against the "evils" of Planned Parenthood, did it have to make the proponents of the clinic two dimensional caricatures of evil; void of any empathy. I would have liked to understand the position of the clinic's director and why she was adamant about her position; was it only for money? Unsure. Final thought, the film does not shy away from showing the horrors of an abortion; it will definitely tug at your empathy for both child and yes, mother. Mothers seeking abortions are shown in a compassionate light (except for one perhaps) and point the finger of blame on Planned Parenthood's raison d'etre. The unexpected and endearing aspect of this story is that it's in the end - a story of forgiveness; and for that, the film nails it.If only the producers could find some big names in Hollywood to play the parts; it would have been a better film. The first and second act didn't really strike a chord except for a few Pooh moments of simple philosophy that makes so much sense in this world of noise and chaos we've created for ourselves. By the third act, the film picks up but falls prey to sentimentality and a lack of realism from a business perspective. Regardless, the film fails to tap into its target audience - is it for kids or for adults? Goodbye Christopher Robin (2017) if far superior to understand Christopher Robin. It's inconceivable how one could take one of the greatest achievements in history and create a dull lethargic film. Claire Foy, who plays Janet Armstrong, is the only saving grace. Technically, the film is great - sound and visual effects are top notch. But the pace and lack of emotion in this should be charged emotional event is a downer from start to finish. Skip it - Follows the old formula that the plot occurs because someone had no sense to resist the temptation to go on a particular web site in which the viewer is told you either go missing or lose your mind. O.k. let's click on the website and be surprised...predictable, full of plot holes and doesn't deliver on the horror. In order for these stories to work, there has to be a conflict for which the protagonist could find his/her way out...and that's what I'm disappointed with many films of this genre coming out today - no resolution...no resolution = victims only (no heroes). Who wants that? There's something sinister about the concept.Skip it - Follows the old formula that the plot occurs because someone had no sense to resist the temptation to go on a particular web site in which the viewer is told you either go missing or lose your mind.
